Hey new first-time voters! We get it. There\u2019s a lot to figure out when it comes to voting in a federal election. From how and where to vote, to understanding which parties are running and who\u2019s leading them, it can feel like a lot.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s totally normal. You\u2019re not expected to know it all at once \u2014 and the most important thing is that you get started and make a plan.<\/p>\n
To help kick off your own research, here\u2019s a high-level fact sheet on the federal party leaders \u2014 their \u201cbaseball card\u201d stats, if you will. Who they are, where they\u2019re from, and what riding they\u2019re running in for this federal election.<\/p>\n
\ud83d\udc49 Reminder:<\/strong> In Canada, you vote for a candidate in your riding \u2014 not directly for a Prime Minister. That means you\u2019ll only see these names on your ballot if you live in their ridings.<\/p>\n And before you make your plan to vote, be sure to do your own research. Elections Canada will soon be opening its on-campus offices. Available at over 100 post\u2010secondary institutions nationwide, the Vote on Campus program offers a convenient, on\u2010campus option for students and other eligible electors.<\/p>\n The Vote on Campus hours of operation are:<\/strong><\/p>\n Note: Operating hours may vary according to each campus schedule. Visit <\/em>elections.ca<\/em><\/a> for updates.<\/em><\/p>\n Eligible electors must be Canadian citizens, at least 18 years old on election day, and provide proof of identity and address. When voting using campus offices, you will be voting by a special ballot.<\/p>\n Advance polling stations are open for four days, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Explore your options \u2014 vote on campus, vote early, or show up on election day.
