Young Canadians are essential to the future health of our democracy, yet they consistently have the lowest voter turnout rate of any age group. Despite their deep concern for issues that matter to them, many young people feel left out and ignored by government. It’s no surprise that the lack of youth consultation is a significant barrier to strong youth civic participation.
I pledge to be a Youth Champion, committed to breaking this cycle of disengagement and ensuring young people are included in our democratic systems. During my time in office I will:
- Engage: Actively connect with young people in my community, discussing the issues that matter to them through youth-focused events, including on campus and in community spaces.
- Educate: Highlight the importance of voting and civic participation, empowering youth to take an active role in shaping their communities.
- Enable: Create opportunities for young Canadians to get involved in my campaign and policy work, ensuring their voices influence decision-making.
Young Canadians have historically been underrepresented in politics. I recognize that bridging this gap requires sustained outreach and inclusion—not just during election season, but throughout each political cycle. By signing this pledge, I commit to energizing a new generation of civically engaged young people, recognizing that their participation is essential to the strength of our Canadian democracy.
